362. HYDROPONICS AND AGRICUTURAL PRODUCTION

The investigation and development of new agricultural techniques have become in a priority for million famers worldwide.  

 

To optimize the available resources, becomes necessary the application of new alternatives of agricultural production that being cheaper and profitable.

In San Juan Alotenango, Sacatepequez, is located the Hydroponic Farm, Fogliasana, which dedicates to agricultural production through Hydroponic technique with plastic pipes, the main resource used is water. Among the main products cropped are onions, lettuces, spinach, arugula, etc. 

The current production has being consumed in restaurants of Antigua Guatemala, although it is projecting for the near future to export it to other countries.

The farm is hiring workers from near places of location, whereby jobs are generated. Other particularity of Fogliasana is that most of workers are women, which allow us give them the opportunity to contribute financially to their homes.

The Hydroponic o Soilless culture, is consider nowadays as a agricultural solution, allowing the optimization of resources; to crop it can be used scrap waste or recycling and the most important thing is that is friendly with environment.

The Hydroponic is a easy, clean, organic and cheaper manner to produce fast growing plants, of raising yield and riches in nutritional elements.

Among the main advantages of hydroponic technique is better uses of available space, in those areas where the land begins to be scarce or becomes unproductive, since yield significantly raise per unit of area.
